Junior Business Analyst

0โ€“3 years Sep 1 to Dec 31, 2026

Translate fuzzy business problems into structured requirements and clean analysis, at AI speed, on engagements where the decision you inform moves real money.

What you'll actually be doing

Every Cortado engagement starts with fuzziness. Someone has a business problem, a vague sense of its shape, and a decision they cannot yet make. Your job is to turn that fuzziness into something the senior team can act on: clean requirements, structured analysis, the right artifact for the moment. Then stay with it through implementation so the answer actually lands.

Historically this has been heads-down analyst work. At Cortado it is increasingly analyst work done at AI speed. You use Claude, structured prompting, retrieval, spreadsheets, SQL, whatever the problem calls for. You are not a ticket-taker. You sit in the client conversations, hear the problem first-hand, and bring back something a partner can use inside the week.

What you will do

  • Sit in client discovery sessions, capture what you hear, and turn it into structured requirements, process maps, data models, and clear problem statements before anyone asks.
  • Own the analysis layer of engagements: spreadsheets, SQL, light BI, whatever evidence the decision actually needs.
  • Run data against the claims the client is making and surface where the story holds and where it breaks.
  • Use AI to compress hours of analysis into minutes and to draft the first version of every artifact, so senior time is spent on judgment, not keystrokes.
  • Document the process improvements each engagement uncovers and turn them into playbooks the firm reuses.
  • Work across consulting leads, engineers, and client stakeholders as the person who keeps the business truth of the engagement on the page.

Who we are looking for

  • You are comfortable being uncomfortable. You want to be in front of senior clients early and you see that as training, not danger.
  • You think in structure. When someone describes a messy situation, you are already diagramming it in your head.
  • You are fluent in spreadsheets and you can write, or learn fast, SQL. Light BI tooling does not scare you.
  • You use AI daily and have opinions about which model you reach for and why. You are past the "play with it on weekends" phase.
  • You write cleanly. Short sentences, specific claims, no fluff.
  • You ask a better question than the one you were handed when the situation calls for it.
  • Zero to three years of experience. Recent grads welcome. Evidence beats credentials.

What you will learn

How real businesses actually make decisions, and where analysis is the thing that changes the outcome versus where it is theater. How senior operators frame a problem so the answer is useful. How to turn one well-run analysis into a repeatable pattern the firm can run a hundred times. How to use AI as a peer across discovery, modeling, and documentation, not as a parlor trick.

Why Cortado

We're an AI-fueled consultancy run by ex-C-suite operators. Our partners have spent careers figuring out what good looks like, and that judgment is encoded into how we work: playbooks, workflows, and AI tools pointed at real client engagements where the decisions move real money.

You will be in rooms with partners who have run companies. You will be in front of C-suite clients whose decisions move millions. You will be making calls faster than you feel ready to make them. This happens early, and it happens on purpose.

The people who thrive here chase being uncomfortable. That is the sensation of actually growing. Our alumni who started where you're starting are now running teams of their own.

We expect you already use it.

We'll help you use AI in ways you never considered, and help you rethink your profession through AI that takes away the drudgery and puts the focus back on creativity.

What this role is not

Not a political seat. Execution is the coin of the realm here. That is a gift if you're good and a problem if you're not, and there is nowhere to hide either way.

Not a craftsman's workshop. If your reflex is to build your own version of everything and never share it, this will make you miserable. If your reflex is to build once, build it well, and make sure it comes home so the next person moves faster, welcome.

You're about to enter the room you want to be the least experienced person in.

If you like learning, you will be baptised by fire in a real-world education unlike any other.

You may leave Cortado, but your experience at Cortado will never leave you.
